Finance Assistant

Fulltime: 37hrs per week

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant to maintain the Purchase Ledger by processing, checking and coding invoices, reconciling statements and dealing with all purchase ledger enquiries within appropriate timescales.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Prompt and accurate recording and distribution of invoices when received.
  • Be one of the key contacts for Budget Managers for Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger queries.
  • Prepare the payment runs, liaising with Finance and Budget Managers to ensure all payments are captured.
  • Provide information to assist in monitoring contractor spend.
  • Assist in system testing, ensuring changes are accurately reflected and logged.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Educations and Qualifications:

  • Good level of general education to NVQ Level 2, or 5 GCSEs, grade ‘C’ or higher, or equivalent, to include English Language and Mathematics. (E)

Experience:

  • Numeracy and clerical background.
  • Experience working with computer based financial packages, databases and spreadsheets.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to work to deadlines under pressure whilst prioritising workload.
  • Ability to review and improve working practices.
  • Ability to spot and problem solve inaccuracies in data.
  • Ability to use IT effectively, with proficient keyboard skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office which must include MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Personal Attributes:

  • High levels of communication skills, both written and verbally.
  • Be pro-active in finding solutions to problems which may arise.
  • Ability to work on own initiative without supervision.
  • Good organisation skills to ensure deadlines are met and processes are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Reliable, self-motivated and conscientious.

We are a housing association based in Norfolk providing quality homes and services to people across the county and in Suffolk.

We manage over 6,000 homes including affordable homes for those in housing need who cannot afford to rent or buy in the open market.

We offer specialist homes for older and vulnerable adults and are committed to providing new homes to help solve the housing crisis.
